Congressional Accountability in the Era of the Imperial Presidency
Flying Davis Money and Capitol Building

Virginians for Peace and Accountability (VPA), a non-partisan grassroots organization, is holding a public town hall forum. The purpose of the forum is to stimulate public discourse about accountability of Representatives in Congress. Faced with blatant violations of law and an unprecedented grab for power by the Bush/Cheney administration, the Congress is unwilling to use the impeachment power to rein in this out of control executive branch. How do we hold our elected representatives accountable to their most basic of duties to support and defend the constitutional framework of separation of powers?

The event format will be panel discussion, with Q & A from the audience. Free and open to the public. Seating is limited.

WHEN:
Saturday, October 20, 2007 1:00 – 4:00 PM

WHERE:
George Mason University (Fairfax Campus), 4400 University Dr., Fairfax, VA

This will be a discussion of the people - a free-form roundtable discussion. We are looking for ideas on what to do. How do we hold this government accountable? How do we channel voter rage into a constructive force for change? You will help us discuss these questions.
