| On Friday, April 20th, members of Veterans for Peace joined Virginians for Peace and Accountability for a meeting with Mr. Gordon Peterson, Military Legislative Assistant for Senator Jim Webb. Mr. Peterson shared with the
group some of the measures that the Senator has taken to hold the Bush Administration accountable for its actions: these included an amendment to require the Administration to seek Congressional approval for any military action against Iran; an investigation into the funding of defense contracting; and statements expressing concern for the effect that the
Administration’s actions are having on the readiness of the U.S. military.
The group then expressed its desire to see the Administration held accountable through impeachment and removal from office, citing its reasons. Mr. Peterson assured the group that he, personally, shared its concerns, and that the Senator in particular would keep its concerns in mind. The meeting concluded with the promise of Mr. Peterson to forward the group’s statement and message to the Senator. |
